This implies that ECU tunes that exceed 258 ft-lbs without a DSG tune (e.g. APR) effectively report a fake torque estimate to the TCU such that it doesn't exceed 258 ft-lbs (350 Nm), or some similar kind of trick.

Again, without the details on what OP's car is running for mods, tough to tell conclusively.

The car is Unitronic Stage 2 with 3" catless dp and Stage 2 Carbonio intake. DSG is stock.
