Front Brake Job

Hello,
I just replaced my front and rear pads and rotors yesterday. After some driving, I noticed that the wear on the front rotors didn’t fill the whole surface. If that makes sense.
I looked closer and the pads don’t fill the whole surface of the rotors. Like there is a 1-2 cm gap between the hub and then where the pads end. I hope I’m explaining this well, but I think these photos explain it better.

they are Akebono pads and Centric rotors if that matters.
the brakes work great but I’m just wondering why the pads wouldn’t fill the whole rotor.

If the rotors aren’t coated, then I’d spray that unswept ring with caliper paint. Otherwise it’ll start rusting and look cheap. My stoptechs look the same, but that’s with a different caliper. Not sure why you have an unswept section.
