After extensive research and development, AWE Tuning is proud to announce the full 3” Turbo-Back exhaust system for the Golf R. Available in three versions plus Performance Downpipe, the AWE Tuning system delivers exactly the volume that you need, whatever your preference may be, and as much as 69hp when paired with G.I.A.C. software.
The AWE Tuning Golf R Exhaust Solution will be released in three versions: SwitchPath™ with the in-cabin Activator Button, SwitchPath without in-cabin Activator Button and as a Track Edition. All can be combined with the AWE Tuning Golf R Performance Downpipe to create a full turbo-back system. Detail follows:
The AWE Tuning Golf R SwitchPath Exhaust with Activator Button changes the attitude of the Golf R at the touch of a button. The Activator Button allows for manual control of the exhaust valve, allowing the exhaust note to match your mood. Cruising to a show? Open the valve for the effect of the Track Edition. Neighbors? Close it, and get the volume to a lower level, that of a Touring Edition. Using one of the factory blanks, the Activator Button is hidden in plain sight and integrates seamlessly into the cabin.
The AWE Tuning Golf R SwitchPath Exhaust is also available without the Activator Button, allowing the stock valve settings to dictate the volume of the Golf R. In this configuration, the SwitchPath system offers a sophisticated yet deeper, louder tone, while affording the ability to easily upgrade to the Activator Button at any time.
The AWE Tuning Track Edition system mirrors the SwitchPath in form, but omits the exhaust valve and electronic controls. The most aggressive of the crew, the Track Edition system stays pronounced all the time, yet still sophisticated. And best of all, the system welcomes the addition down the road of both the Activator Button and valving to turn the Track Edition into a SwitchPath Exhaust.
All system variations offer peak gains of 11hp and 9ft/lb tq on stock software, while mated to the stock downpipe.
The AWE Tuning Performance Downpipe uncorks more sound and performance through increased flow, utilizing a high flow CAT section… to the tune of 22hp and 17ft/lb tq when paired with G.I.A.C. Software and any of the AWE Tuning Cat-Back systems mentioned above. When G.I.A.C. is paired with the entire AWE Tuning Turbo-Back system, gains of 69hp and 69ft/lb tq can be expected.
