If you believe VW is "defraud(ing) buyers on a daily basis" how can, in good conscience, own one of their cars?

because GTIs are my favorite car, and i literally wouldn't drive *anything* else on the market for less than 40K

Admitting that the modification broke something, taking it to the dealer and "play(ing) dumb" is immoral no matter how you look at it. Trying to trick a company into taking responsibility for your mistake is unethical regardless of what you believe that company is doing to customers.

The modification has been installed on thousands of peoples' cars and the rep with the manufacturer of said part said that they had never once seen an instance of catastrophic transmission failure due to the installation of this part. this speaks to 3 possibilities:

A) the part was installed incorrectly.

B) the cast on my transmissions housing was on the bottom of the quality control bell curve

C) all of the above
