Mk7 gte bonnet won’t open

Hi I have got issues getting the bonnet open on my gte! Spoke to people seems there’s an issue with the junction on the cable and to go on through the wheel well? Stripped it all out but the back of my light won’t come off to get your hand in, my son tried as his are smaller than mine. Is there another way? Picture of the the rear of the light cluster on post for reference. Thanks in advance

I‘ve used a wooden wedge between grill and bonnet. With a 10mm open wrench I was able to unscrew the bonnet hook.
