Need video editing help

Everything out there seems way too complicated or way too simple to accomplish what I thought would be a very basic task.

I have 2 videos. I want to overlay one of them on top of the other i.e. picture in picture while retaining audio from the bigger video.

Been sitting here trying various programs for over 2 hours now and I can't make anything do it - is there some simple software available for this?

Have you ever considered using Harry's Lap Timer?
I think the petrolhead version has a video in video option. I'd check it out.

HLT is what I used when I had my iphone. I think by next season the Android version might be decent which will solve my problem.
