Steering wheel vibration, 2010 GTI

I was wondering if I could get some tips on what to inspect/replace.

My steering wheel seems to vibrate when I go over bumps. The bumps can be small, i.e., from light buckling of the road or road patches. It is worse when the bumps occur quickly. It lends a crappy unsolid feeling to the control of the vehicle. Any ideas? Could it be ball joints or tie rods?

Did you hit a big pothole, you could have a cracked wheel, i had same issue when inran over a big pothole and it only vibrated above 35 mph, go to dealer to diagnose

Edit: keep in mind if it is, call insurance first then have dealer do it, i paid 1,400 out of pocket

It only vibrates when going over a bumpy surface, but I certainly will check the wheels.
