Thinking about a tune

I was going to go with the COBB unit but a buddy at work says a dyno tune is the only way to go after mods.
I see IE has a tune as well.
After modding phones, computers, and a previous car build, I'm fully aware of the possibility of generic code not doing what it's intended to do.
Is there a path forward that doesn't include cashing in a savings bond?

What sort of modding have you done? Unless you've done extensive engine work, a custom dyno tune is unnecessary.

The OTS tunes from the big names are tried and true, no real need to worry about bad code.

Unitronic ECU tune files are proper. Make sure you fix all the weak spots first prior to tuning.

Nothing wrong with Cobb and you can also adda tune from Stratified. Can be purchased as a kit from them Aswell. Stratified tunes are way better than the OTS COBB .

Based^ I second this
Especially if you have a K04

If you just want to tune and move on APR or Unitronic. If you want the ability to tweak and modify COBB with a none COBB tune.

It feels weird still getting help from Lex. Glad to send him my business though.
It’s a quality tune. Will be my 4th tune with him, time for a 4-bar map sensor.

You can always try someone else. I have no experience with sneaky, but them having a Gmail account I'm cool. I can't help but judge a business when they use free email.

No one else new is tuning this platform remotely. Too bad EQT doesn't

I have been using COBB on multiple vehicles since 2006.. Everything has its pros and cons. I feel like it's the best bang for your buck. You can use it to monitor engine parameters. You can use it as a performance gauge, you can take data logs, change tunes, get custom tunes, lots of nice features. It's not just a set and forget, but it can be if that's all you want it to be. Or it can grow with you/ the car as you continue to add more powwa... So far I have been happy with it for this platform. I went from a Stage 1 OTS, to a Stratified stage 1 tune and then to a custom KO4 tune through Freektune which is a local Cobb pro tuner in my home state.. Car runs like a dream, no issues and it's a daily commuter with 140+k miles on it now... So needless to say it's not going blow up your car by tuning it either..

Absolutely perfectly worded.
