1999 Volvo S80.

Great highway cruiser with ultra-comfy seats and a quiet, bump-absorbing ride. Annoying as hell to drive in stop-and-go traffic. Capable turbo inline 6 cyl. engine, but it's far too heavy (read: inefficient) and has too much turbo lag. NUMB steering and minivan-like turning radius. Torque steer as well. I'd say most any car over 250hp ought not be front-wheel drive.

Loving the athleticism of my mkVI GTI! It's got an impressively comfortable and quiet ride given its sporting tendencies.

2001 S4 Avant, Stage 3-. I miss the AWD and the power, but the GTI is much nicer inside and I'm loving the head unit and all the media options + bluetooth. Plus it's quieter, and the heated seats make it so much more comfortable in the cold.

Great big comfortable smooth sedan. But boring as hell after 3 years so when my lease was up I jumped ship.

My Gti now has a total of 200 miles and Im loving every single fvcking second of it.

Anybody driven/owned a mk2 Audi TT? I'm curious about how different it is from the GTI. Naysayers on the TT say it's just a GTI in sexier clothing, but it seems that may have been more the case with the mk1 TT. Maybe the AWD is a significant driving difference?

The mk2 TT is an excellent car, but as a fanatical mk1 TT owner, most of us have never gotten over the styling mistakes and blandness of the redesign, regardless if the overall package is better. The magnetic ride is phenomenal on a track. If you're not afflicted by those sort of styling concerns, or even like the mk2 TT design, no question you'll love the car, and they're not selling well, so you should be able to strike quite a deal, far below invoice. That said, otherwise there's no compelling reason to especially consider it over the GTI if you don't get quattro and the magnetic ride.

Moved to a '10 GTI 4-door with a manual from an '08 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited with a manual. The Jeep was fun in the winter weather and was a good vehicle for hauling the dog and large things. It just wasn't so fun on the open road. Oh yeah, it was VERY thirsty.
