Help! Broken M12 Bolt trying to install hitch

Hello all,

I am trying to install a curt receiver hitch on my 2011 VW Golf, and when I was removing my M12 bolt that connects subframe crossmember to the frame it snapped. It threads into a weldnut on the frame.

I am thinking of just taking my car to the shop to see if they can get it out... is it safe to drive there carefully?

If you can get the subframe out, some heat and vise grips would get that out. I would drive slow if you take it to a shop. Must use lots of salt on your roads, damn that rust.

Agreed, only way I can tell to get that out is to get the subframe out of the way. Heat it red-hot and get a pair of good vice grips on it. If that doesn't work you're gonna have to weld a nut on the end of the stud.
