Anyone going to get APR tune? Bay Area

Well I'm bumded the not is only is the shop near where I live booked up until August 8th but they're charging 2.5 hours to do my tune (they have to pull the computer crack it open flash it and re-seal & reinstall it.) They charge $110 an hour Is this too much:iono:. Want to get tune (before sale is over) and downpipe installed BTW They quoted me 1 hour for the downpipe install, Noticed a few people got quoted 3 & 4 hours for this.

Anybody been to Precision Motorworks they're in Santa Clara??

Labor for the ECU flash should only really be an hour. The fact that they are quoting you 2.5 hours seems to point that they don't have much experience doing this. Which shop quoted you? Was it Sonoma Autowerks?

034 quoted me $190 for the downpipe, where JHMotorsports quoted me $290. Both quotes were not worth it to me, so I went ahead and did it myself. You save money and learn more about the car, a win-win situation IMO.

It was sonoma autowerks, But they only quoted me 1 hour for the downpipe install which is $110 there hourly rate. They're Audi & VW specialist's and that was all I saw there.

If I had a Bigger garage and a lift I would do it but I don't feel like crawling around under my car on a slopped rough concrete & gravel driveway (my back doesn't like it)

Need to find someone else quick to do my tune & that can fit me in before the sale ends, Sonoma Autowerks is booked up till the 8th But they said they mite be able to shift some of there regular/non APR customers around??. But if I can get it done cheaper elsewhere and get in before the sale is over I'll definetly do it!!!!

Try hitting up 034Motorsports, it is a bit of a drive for you but I paid $125 for the ECU flash, and they have a lot of experience flashing ECUs also. They have a nice facility and has wifi.

I've had no problems with JHM in the past. Enjoy Stage 2!! You'll have a whole new car when its done .

They sound like good people, It's going to be a bit of a drive though going from the Northeast bay all the way through the east bay to the valley basically. I may get my short shifter and front sway bar done on the same day as well?.

short shifter you can do yourself, its pretty easy, just to save yourself some money. they probably would charger another 0.5 hr for labor even though it is less than that.

I'm a bit busy with other stuff right now, So I figure I'll have them do it since they're going to be working on it anyways. Besides my back doesn't like it when I'm bent over under the hood of a car for more than 10 to 15 minutes. You wouldn't know it from looking at me, But I've got a defect in my lower back and as I've gotten older it's gotten alot less tolerant of the bending, twisting & turning that goes with working on cars (I used to work as a mechanic over 20 years ago)

Yeah I got my car flashed to stage 1 there. Good shop, they have a new facility now. Real big, Multiple lifts. There waiting room is nice with a flat screen tv. Ask for keaten. The founder of JH was my patient for many years. He knows cars. They mainly modify audi s4's and rs4's. You should check em out.

Yeah, I just made my appointment at 034 and they told me that they had time open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday this coming week!

Unfortunately 034 only has openings for tune installs and nothing, Since the car doesn't need to be on a lift, But I need to get my downpipe installed before the tune and they can't fit me in until after the 18th, JH can get me in anytime between today and next friday the 3rd, which works great for me, I'll be doing it sometime between July 31st & August 3rd

How about a muffler or exhaust shop could they do your DP install then just use 034 for the tune?
