It sucks to profit from other's misfortune, but I imagine a lot of people will be needing new boats when this is over. I can't say if I would evacuate or not as I've never been in that situation, but from what I'm seeing, this is a really strong storm.
yeah some people are being real assholey. There are a bunch of facebook post from people offering to "help" put shutter and plywood up as like $70 per opening which is ridiculous. and others were offering like $50 per opening with the person paying supplies.
For their half asswork of screwing up plywood because i know damn well they arent gonna bolt and anchor them per code it would take them 5 minutes per window to put the wood over and tak in 5-8 tapcons.
Plus others were "auctioning" off their "extra" supplies and stuff to the highest bidder. So a $300 generator the guy sold it for over 600 to the "highest bidder" instead of getting his 300 asking price to the first person that came. Ive also seen other people offering cases of water(that are 3 bucks) for like 10-20 bucks per pack because they "realized they didnt need so much so they were getting it back to people".
Now at the same time other people are offering their services for free to trim and clean up yards, help put away outdoor furniture and stuff, board windows etc, just those few douches who try and profit off the misfortune of those unable to do stuff themselves.
