Last thing, 8 years Nuclear Weapons Specialist, 2 years Air Reserve, and going on 5 years as a military contractor and yes my information is correct. Orders are orders, but the unit gets the orders, the commander then ask for volunteers. Your friend probably gave some sob story to you and his family. Tax free money talks!

Also, my point was that Paul Walker and other celebrity's give millions and donate their time between filming to help Americas true problems, hunger, disease, providing shelter....what does the average modern day veteran do in their spare time? Forget overseas, here in the states how many veterans do you know because I can name hundreds and they do nothing but party and play video games. Very few join for noble reasons.

So again, RIP Paul, thank you for everything you did for America.

" oh I own a Gti. I'm better then Paul walker", boo hoo. Boo hoo. If you lost someone you cared about. I'm 100% we would be sorry for you and give our best of hopes. Not be a flaming ass cock and say tons of bull shit that you know others will be mad about.

Sometimes I really wonder about peoples midset on thingszz

this.

if you guys think "oh its not gonna happen to me simply bc I'm a better driver than them or my car is easy as hell to control" the carma will come to you. I'm from and raised in an area where the people i associated with saying "oh its not gonna happen to me" cockiness attitude and drive like idiots on the highway that explains why my home country has high accident death rates...... yeah.

as i remember when i was a kid my uncle used to have that sort of cockiness and what happened, he totaled 3 cars and now owned up to 8 cars now, he took 3 of them to the track and now doesn't have that good driving denial when he used to drive like an ass like he used to have. i have some friends that got their license suspended and now they don't have that sort of attitude

just my 0.02 cents and take example from my/people i associate experience so you won't complain about "my license is suspended"

so i went to the crash site last night since it is local to me ( about 5 miles away ) and it was very sad. a lot of people there crying, and a lot of posters with peoples writing on it and news reporters there. i am curious to see the analysis of how fast they were going though. the turn is a sweeper turn that is not very long, so they could not have been going THAT fast, but obviously fast enough to wreck pretty badly. i noticed that the building next to the crash had a shattered window due to a car part flying from the crash.

Whether they were sh!tty movies or not is another debate, but you cannot deny the impact they've had on modern culture and how many of us grew up with the original from our high school years up to now.
I enjoyed watching Paul Walker if not just for these movies, his role in Running Scared and Into The Blue. He was an entertaining actor who was fit for his roles. Sad to see him gone in a tragic way but yeah, there is a lot of attention on him and most forgot there was another in the car with him. Hell, it was the other guy the driver...
RIP Paul W.

Whether or not you liked the movies.. RIP Paul Walker.. Respect to the families involved. I wonder what will happen to the F&F series.

Two true automotive enthusiasts, racers lost their lives in a tragic accident. One of them was well known as a kind and charitable human being.

And yet, several on this forum, rather than express appropriately about the deaths of two fellow enthusiasts and human beings, instead decided to act like children (they probably are), or make it about something completely unrelated (troops, patriotism).

We are enthusiasts. Regardless of what else Paul Walker may have been, he was one of us. And it's almost impossible to ignore when a fellow enthusiast loses his life in what will probably be identified as an avoidable accident. We've all been in a car, either on the track or the street, that was on the ragged edge of it's limits, only all of us walked away. When someone doesn't, it hits very close to home.

Not being a fan of the F&F movies, I'm still deeply saddened and moved to hear of Mr. Walker and Mr. Rodas' deaths. There are children without fathers, mothers without sons, etc as a result.

This thread is an outstanding example of why many enthusiast circles look down upon "VW scene kids". I'm pretty disgusted buy some of the replies here, and it reflects poorly upon our community.

Illegal street racing?

New reports emerging that Rodas/Walker's Carrera GT may have been in the middle of a street race with another car prior to crashing. Police are investigating leads.

RIP to the respective individuals and their families. But if it turns out that they were in fact illegally street racing on public roads and this lead to their demise, than I would have no sympathy.

I think I'm going to contribute to the Off topic-ness of this thread but just because someone was doing something they shouldn't have been, doesn't mean they deserve to lose their life.

Gad, thats just crazy. Did the car actually explode, or just catch fire?

Also, the attitudes in this thread are far worse than the F&F movies. yes, even tokyo drift.

Caught fire. There is a lot of carbon fiber used where metal would used be in a normal car. Carbon fiber melts. That's why it looks like a big puddle of molten goo.

Even without the fire I bet PW died on impact (passenger side impact). So sad really, when you think about it..

RIP, this guy has impacted us in one way or another and will be missed greatly in and out of the tuning community. Sucks when this ish happens..
