Anyone Miss their Old Car or Regret buying their R/GTI/TDI/Golf?

In the order I've had them. I'm 23 years old

1993 Dodge Cummins*

1985 Jetta diesel

1989 Nissan Hard Body

Beetle powered rail buggy

Bus powered rail buggy

1996 Geo tracker

2000 Jetta TDI

2003 Jetta TDI

2011 GTI •

1985 Jetta diesel

1994 Jetta*

1984 Rabbit diesel

1985 Jetta turbo diesel

2005 Jetta TDI

2013 Golf TDI•*

• = bought new
* = still own

All of them but the 2000 TDI have been stick. Both trucks and the tracker are 4x4

I miss the first mk2 the most. It was mint and I loved the color, never should have let it go.

Second most missed would be the Tracker. I paid practically nothing for it and it was a ton of fun off road with the little time and money I had in it.

Out of the dozens of bikes and quads I've had over the years I'm down to just two now which just so happen to be my favorites

2013 KTM 250sx

2003 Yamaha Wolverine. And the gf in the back ground, she's still around too

In order.

'97 Dodge Dakota V6 4WD - Dead nuts reliable. Miss it as it was a simple, honest, tough little truck.
'99 Pontiac Grand Am GT - Massive POS. Burn in hell.
'98 Ford Mustang V6 coupe - Miss the tail out, E-brake action though it could barely get our of its own way.
'04 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi 4WD - Don't miss the at best 12 mpg or the parking. Do miss that Hemi sound.
'11 Volkswagen GTI - Love it every day.

I've only had four cars...

'97 Civic. First car I bought. I learned stick and started modding with this one, I do miss it a little bit

'12 GTI - still have it and love it

'90 Miata - trying to sell it now

I don't regret any of it.

I'm 29, owned 23 cars. Fuck, I gotta get going. I'd like number of cars owned to exceed my age.

Car ADD sucks. I hate it. I mostly regret selling the 944. That thing was incredible. Runner up is the e30. My 911, and e36's were complete piles. The names were more impressive than the cars themselves. Bought the M3 because it was a cheap M3 (woops), traded it for a 328is that was marginally less shitty, but only barely. The 911 was cheap...word for the wise: no 911 is ever cheap.

I've never regretted selling the VAG cars though, could never get attached to them.

What was the reason to go from trucks to cars?

I miss my 2005 E46 M3 the most. Sigh. She was so good to me.

1984 Honda civic (got it with my first several paychecks when I turned 17)
2000 Toyota corolla (sold the civic for a down payment on this)
2007 Nissan 350Z (still own it. Bought it brand new)
2007 Nissan Altima 3.5SL
2008 Toyota Tundra 5.7 4x4
2009 Toyota Tacoma
2005 BMW M3
2011 Toyota Tundra 5.7 4x4
2012 VW GTI

List is pretty small, doe.

Was before I had the spacers, color matches side markers and smoked corners installed.

I miss my '07 Audi A4 quattro 2.0t. And I specially miss the manual tranny. But I certainly don't regret buying my golf 2.5. It is much cheaper to operate.

he has the rubicon.

Yep, still have the Rubi. It's my wife's main driver. We both really like it, however it's a soft top model with half doors, so it's truly driving a tent down the road. It was fine in California but in Michigan winter, it's not so great. Its days are already numbered, we'll be consolidating the Rubi and the truck when the Colorado and Canyon come out.

The Fit was the worst car I've ever had. I inherited it from my wife when we got married, and I had to spend a lot of time driving it myself when I was between cars. It was a base with automatic. What a pile. The inside was a marvel of packaging and interior design, but driving it was so painful, I couldn't get over it. The auto sucked out all the life that car could have had. I sold that for the e30 and sold the the XJ and my old MK5 for the Rubicon all around the same time.
