Catch Can

Looking to install a catch can in my MK6 Golf GTI, any recommendations? Also should I get rid of the PCV valve and replace with a plate?

Yes you should get a catch can and you should get one that uses the stock PCV. The 'Africa plate' that replaces the PCV will cause you problems.

The ECS one will fit. BFI makes a good one. Honestly I couldn't justify the price of the premade kits so I just built my own for like $50 in parts. They are very simple if you understand the PCV system.

Its worth noting that your car wont explode if you don't get a catch can, you will just collect a little more carbon on your valves.
