Sad month this month (and day...)
Spyder was loaded up onto a flatbed today for it's trip to CoPart. . About a month ago, it met it's demise against the side of a mountain in the Tail of the Dragon. Could have been worse (could have driven off the side instead), thankfully nobody but myself was affected or hurt (F'd up my back pretty good, fractured a few vertebrae). Without going into detail I'll just say - do as I say, not as I do... leave the ego at home no matter how annoyed you are, leave WAY more margin on the street than you think, especially if you spend time on twisty mountain roads, and watch out for oncoming motorcycles who can't stay in their lane. Otherwise you may find yourself with a trifecta of bad ingredients.
So now... I am, sorta? on the hunt for some kind of replacement. With the Porsche market + retarded ass interest rates, another 718 Spyder is out of the question, sadly. Right now am leaning towards trying to find a clean but "driver quality" 987 Spyder.
If I can't find that, then maybe I'll join my son and buy a new GR86 and pimp it out with all the suspension goodness... or maybe an ND2. Or I could make my son REALLY jealous and find a clean E36 M3 but those things are old now and I don't have a lot of patience for maintenance these days.
