Agreed. Lupos was incredible. I hate The Strand, which has been Providences main medium sized venue since they closed back in like 2003 or so?

I'm not sure when they closed, but that sounds right. I was going there in the 1990's. The last show I saw there was the B52's.

My first concert was also at the New Haven Coliseum, Kiss with Ted Nugent opening. Had great seats, made a hell of an impression for my first concert.

My dad was one of the Iron workers who erected the steel when that building was put up.

So first show I went to was Bosstones at the Rat in 91. I was 12.

First big name band show was REM at Great Woods when I was 14.

Most memorable - RATM/Wu-Tang at Great Woods in 97. They were originally going to cancel the show b/c Zack sprained his ankle. So Wu-Tang diverted their bus towards NY. Then it was on. It was chaos. Show started super late and was downright amazing.

Tried to see MF DOOM three times and all 3 were no shows.

Saw Kool Keith on Halloween in a warehouse in Dorchester at a Kaiju Big Battel event in 2000 - that was a fucking trip. BPD swarmed the place and shut it down.

^ nice! i saw MF Doom in Chicago once but didn't get to see him perform or get to meet him. Would have been sick.

Oh and Wu-Tang Clan DID show to riot fest and boy did they put on a show!

First show ever attended was in '92 at the Cap Center.....Eric Clapton.....bro played for 4 straight hours with no opening act....it was epic.

I saw so many great acts at The Rat. I went to Northeastern and lived on Park Drive. It was my back yard.

Bosstones for sure, several times.
Aerosmith
Debby Harry
The Lyres
Black Flag
The Cars
Robin Lane and the Chartbusters
The Ramones

and more I've forgotten.

The ones I remember.

Yes at the New Haven Coliseum.
ELP at the Yale Bowl in quadraphonic sound. Not a good idea to spin sound around in circles amidst a bunch of wasted people.
Jethro Tull at MSG. I won a bet and had to choose between Led Zepplin or Tull. I should have chosen Zepplin.
Robin Trower at the Boardwalk in Asbury Park. The loudest show I've ever attended. Louder than Black Flag.
Charlie Daniels at Webster Lake.
J. Geils a shitload of times. It was nothing but a party.
George Thorogood at the Agora Ballroom on Tremont Street.
The B52's five times. The best were at Lupo's and the Channel in South Boston.
The Atlantics in the Northeastern University cafeteria.
Edgar Winter at The Paradise. His monitor mix engineer passed out and I took over.
Stevie Ray Vaughn at the Newport Jazz festival.
