Drag Race Newbie
The nittos won't compare to the Hoosiers for grip.
I have the 225/45/17's hoosiers on my car with the k04 I am right at the top of 4th gear at the end of the 1/4 near 6900rpm or so. The 245/45/17's should work good, but if you are going to do them have you considered the m&h 17" slicks? They are about the same size as the 245/45 radial tires.
http://www.mandhtires.com/M-H-Racemaster-Drag-Slicks?product_id=150#.UsrLSCPnbcc
That diameter should be ok for k04 powa. :)

Ok so Ive been thinking about changing up drag tire and wheel setup.
Rite now with ko3 I finish up the 1/4 mile in 5th gear. And did some talking with angel @ forgemotorsport and he thinks I should drop to a 16" wheel and run a 225/50/16 tire for taller tire which should allow me to finish the 1/4 mile in 4th gear.

Im most likely getting a big break kit also 330 size, so im gonna stick with 17" wheel, but a buddy of mines can hook me up with a new set of nitto nt555r drag radials 245/45/17 which guessing is taller and more meat than my hoosier 225/45/17.

So I love my hoosier and they have done well, cutting a few 1.8 60 foots and mostly 1.9 60'
Now has anyone tried the nitto drags before. Will they suck are they as good as hoosier and what do u guys think about running 245/45/17 on mk6 gti?

Any and all will be appreciated. Thanks!

I have 245/50/16 Nitto 555r...and well I have stage 3+ and with that power i somehow broke my transmission from so much traction. So im selling them now and said screw the drag strip and am sticking to the track now.
It was the last run of the night, like for real was last call...and i went up there put car in first, preloaded the clutch with ebrake pulled....then drop ebrake and let clutch out smooth while giving good power...car hopped a lot up front but randomly bogged then got going again...then i shifted into 2nd and ran the rest of the track out...everything was fine as far as i could tell....i coasted to the ticket booth and stopped for my results...then tried to put the car back in 1st and it wouldnt go in...end of story...thank god i already had a new trans waiting to go in with an LSD...the LSD would have prob helped who knows...i dont feel like risking the drag strip again...i felt it was extremely rough on my car.

Thanks for the input, didnt know someone makes a 17" slick nice!
but im thinking 26" tire might be to tall. Car gonna bog or break stuff.
But im happy to see that ko4 powa end in 4th gear on 1/4mile:thumbup:

12.26et@113mph

1) 2010 GTI
2) manual
3) 225/50-16 hoosier et drag
4) no weight removal
5) 93oct
6) APR Stage 3+

I don't have the timeslip due to the awesome engineering design of the mk6 that if there is water on the roof and happen to put the window down it will run down the edge into the door pocket where my pile of slips were. Hopefully the picture at least somewhat backs up that I was actually at the track lol

Updated!
