Efficiency, packaging, and development dollars. The V8 is dead. The V6 ecoboost is the future. It would have been a waste to develop a one off version of the voodoo. Also, with the extensive buttress aero in the back there were packaging constraints. I mean it makes 650 hp, 550lbft, and weighs 3000lbs. Power isnít an issue. Itís a clean sheet, purpose built Le Mans car, not a modern day version of the original like the 2005 model. It was built to win, not appease consumers.

It does not appease me and the v8 is not dead!

Also, looks like the new 911 Caymans (see what I did there) BOP is better than the GT this year. Too bad itís no longer a real 911.

Itís dead mang. Nobody likes it, but itís true. For the internal combustion engine to survive, the v8 has to die. Get em while you can. Itíll all be electric soon.

You are succumbing to defeat too soon. Most manufacturers are still putting out V8s. Heck, we are in a sort of ICE Golden age of power and efficiency.

Who is succumbing to defeat? My coyote motor will be arriving as soon as Ford releases the 2018 version as a crate motor. Many manufacturers have already stated that they will not develop new v8ís after the current versions donít pass emissions or mpg targets.

But not to pull a Ford and scrap all their cars. The ATS has undersold and they are going to make a car in between the ATS and CTS. Iím curious to see what it will be. I had a CT6 loaner and liked it. Iíd love to drive the CT6-V when they drop that twin turbo V8 in her.

Speaking of driving, after 4 weeks of no license Iím going crazy.

I would not recommend working from 9-7 in a garage with no ventilation on a day like today. Tired and heat exhausted. I need a steak, 5 beers, and a couch pronto.
