I just did some data logging last night on Stratified base map tune last night. Just sent my logs over to them. Feel free to look at my numbers and see if anything looks wrong

I didnít bother with the ring. Itís welded directly to the compressor housing.

Just wanted to bump this thread as I bought an HPA KO4 and I keep hearing people saying the actuator on the HPA unit is 'weak' - can someone who has experienced this elaborate further? I was planning on purchasing a forge unit based on this research but I wanted a little more feedback before I do so.

Basically a "weak" wastegate actuator would cause low or inconsistent boost.

That part I got, I was just curious what they were running at the time (e30, meth, aggressive tuning, etc) that they would've had to replace the wastegate actuator to get what they were looking for.

Wasn't sure if it was weak because people were asking too much of it, or if it was more widespread of an issue

Itís likely the same reason the diverter valves theyíre using are ďrepsĒ to hit a price point with the turbo to be competitive. Casting & machining those housings probably isnít cheap, so they use aftermarket components for the rest, including the actuator.

Obviously a more aggressive tune/mods will ask more of the potentially crappy actuator, thus the varied results.

I think itís worth the extra upgrades to make a good bolt-on turbo ďkitĒ great.

With the Forge actuator & OEM electrical things, it should perform solidly. Plus, with the SoCal Porting port & ceramic coat, itíll spool close to stock.

My thoughts exactly! That's the plan for my Ko4 as well. Will be sent over to SoCal as soon as my turbo gets here Tuesday.

Thanks for the input!

Waste of money.

Not necessary.

Have 80k on my HPA, never needed one.
