Perfect car, I think. Small, nimble enough to where it feels fast and will stoke the car enthusiast embers... but not actually fast enough to get him too far up shit creek.

I started out with a 95 Celica. After some suspension mods, the thing was planted. But 0-60 in 10 seconds on a downhill kept me humble.

I agree with Torga. Great car for him to learn proper driving on and he can't get into much trouble like with a Mustang or Camaro. He will learn how to make up for lack of power and how to carry speed.

I have only ever owned FWD cars but learned these skills from slower Honda's.

I almost bought a blown/meth stick E46 years ago. Seemed like something was wrong with the tune so I didn't wind up getting it.
