Before I spend $850 for a tranny fluid change, I will......

A) Light my car on fire
B) Trade my car in and take a $2,500 hit

Do B, then A. But then it won't be your car you're setting on fire, and likely a felony. Maybe rethink this when you're sober, have a Penrose sausage, and shop around for a indie mech who can handle the job.

Not long ago I did my service and was quoted at my "Stealership" with the same $800 bucks.I separated the service with two other bigger VW dealers and just for the Dsg service ended up paying away less than $400.Search around your area, not all dealers do special and charge your not for the difficulty of labor but for the amount of workers they hire..

Local VW-specialist shops do DSG flsuh for around $300 in my area. A dealer will also do it for that price, or even slightly cheaper ($275).

Shop around, see what you can find.

im doing my 40k maintenance by parts since it is lots of $$ to do it at once. Did the oil change at the dealer did the rest myself...Saving up $$ to do the dsg oil flush. Im glad spark plugs dont have to be done till 60k, dealer themselves told me I dont have to change the fuel filter either right now it could wait along with the air filter.

So what if I asked them to do JUST the DSG fluid change

Why not ask the dealer since they, not us, will be the ones to set the price. It's only every 40k miles, so big deal if it's $400-$500 for just the DSG service....about 1 penny per mile and do the rest yourself which is the smart thing to do. Save $4 per week in a cookie jar and you won't have these issues!

ok, lets break this down.

Last i checked at 40k you should get (about average prices at dealer)
New Cabin Air filter ($80)
Oil/Filter ($100)
DSG dervice ($400)
Spark Plugs ($120)
$700 or so.. at "standard" prices...

You're not just getting the DSG service, you're getting the 40k mile service. This is nothing out of the ordinary.

That's straight raping right there. I thought the Exo X MR SST transmission service was expensive at $250.00...VW Charging $800.00 is beyond outrageous.

Considering how much a new DSG transmission costs, I think the routine maintenance is a small price to pay for some insurance.
