What's with the transformers that are pictured with the lights? Do these need to be installed also? I am about to pull the trigger on these....

those are the resistors and yes, they need to be installed - hence the no bulb out light on the dash...... aye dios mio.

I just installed mine last night. They look Great. Easy 15 minute install....

I didn't realize how dim and yellow the stock bulbs are! Now I am addicted and will be replacing all my bulbs on my MK6 GTI!

Installed mine last night also. One side went in perfectly, the other, not so much. Had to bend the tabs a bit to get the connector to click in, then the assembly wouldn't sit in the bumper straight. Had to file some extra plastic left over from moulding. But then it sat like the other and I couldn't be happier. Looks great!
