Spamming here as well for the new wheel pics... :)

Lol

I saw the thread bumped up and I came here looking for the pics.... lol
Well, I've been in the collision repair industry for about 18 years. ;)

Yeah, where's them wheel pics? lol

For the uninitiated, my car is from Iowa. It was 7 years old and had 84k miles on it when I bought it, so the chance for rust was there.
Turns out that the strut tower mount nuts had rusted basically to the bolt, so we couldn't just pull the bolts right out to swap in the new suspension (and therefore put the wheels on).
I started around noon on Saturday after we finished up swapping strut mounts and rear struts on a Turbo Beetle, but we had to call it at 4pm because we had plans downtown that night. So the car is sitting unfinished with 3/4 of the suspension pulled out, no wheels on. I had to borrow an air-powered cut-off wheel from my neighbor and got a bit close to my strut tower cutting the head off this bolt so the whole strut would fall out. Also my garage is flooded with the smell of PB blaster :)
We'll be done this weekend, I needed to buy more new hardware and rear strut mounts anyways. Sorry for the delay! :)

About time I can update this properly.

The car hit 100k today. I also finished my Solowerks install with upgrade Velt Sport mounts all around. For those who don't know, Velt Sport is just UroTuning's in-house brand, and all the mounts we make are basically just an OEM+ style mount. Same OEM mount body, slightly higher durometer on all of em. This Solowerks install was definetly one for the books for me, a rusty car with 100k miles on it was a challenge, but I think it was well worth it in the end. Literally everything that I touched was replaced with new hardware, so the next time it all comes out it should be way easier.

For people curious, I'll link everything I bought and used:

S1VW006 - I know these say 2wd, but they will work on 4wd cars. Went with this kit over the standard 4wd kit due to Solowerks' recommendation, these basically provide a better ride quality which is interesting.
CT8851243C- Konig Countergrams - 18x8.5 et43
VELT-1K0-353-KT- Velt Sport Rear Install kit with new OEM hardware
6N0412249C - Front Upper Strut Bearings
VELT-1K0-331-KT - Velt Sport HD Strut Mount Kit
Mk5-6-Front-Bolt-Kit-PLUS - Front Strut Install Kit (I did not need or use the Axle bolts in this kit)
VST20D28 & 76004 - Tuner Style Allen Wheel Bolts & Tool
MN3424 - Strut Spreader Tool
Amazon Metal Hub Centric Rings
For tires I'm running 225/40R 18 Kumho Ecsta V730s

UroTuning wanted to use this install and stuff as some marketing content for the YouTube channel, so that'll be out for anyone who wants to watch that. Here are the first few daylight pictures I got :)

How is it at night? I've always left my windshield alone for fear of regret. I've got 30 or 35% everywhere else, can't recall the exact number right now.

I have only ever had issues when trying to back up, which is the rest of the cars fault and not the front. So I'd say I have no issues. Not sure if eyesight or anything plays into that, but I've also never heard anyone else complain about it in my car.

I guess your forward field of view is always lit up at night, makes sense.
I bought my car with what I later learned was 15% in the rear and quarter-rear windows. Was always so awful at night.

Yeah I can imagine that probably wouldn't be too helpful, but yeah the road is lit up at night, lmao.

I'm liking the wheels, do you guys have them in stock? I had 35 on the windshield of a car in FL, was a bit too much for me haha.

We don't have them in stock, but last I knew Konig has them in stock currently. If you reach out they'll be able to confirm for you, best to be safe.

:)

Not bad!
How much lower can you go (if you wanted)/how many threads left?

Where's the lower grille btw? lol

And what's with every product being linked to UroTuning? ;)

The car tuned btw?

I think I can go about a inch or so more. Would have to measure.

The grill broke on Thursday :( It was broken from the previous owner, and the body shop said they could attempt to fix it but they weren't sure if it would hold. I guess I got a bit rowdy during my test drive and it broke in the same place it was broken originally. I ordered a new aftermarket one and it should be here next month.

I am the Webteam manager at UroTuning so I get everything there ;)

Yep tuned on Stage 1+ with Unitronic right now, but I have stuff on the way to go stage 2 next month :)

How much is the aftermarket grille versus OEM?

Yeah I know/knew you work for UroTuning ;)

Should be fun!

I had 5% on the rear side and back glass of the GTI. Never had to flip the inside mirror to night mode. lol

Was like a $200 difference even after paying for expedited shipping. The OEM is dummy expensive for a medium-sized piece of plastic. Shit makes no sense.
