Ok so I want to get the LED tails for my MK6 and I was wondering what is the best site to get OEM LEDs and my car was built in 10/09 so what else do I need I was reading that I have to rewire to fit them and I need a VAG COM also? if I have to rewire is there a harness I could purchase that will not be difficult to remove reason being is I will buy a used TDi at the end of next year and want to transfer the lights.

Thanks in advance.

You will need adaptors to connect the wiring.

You need VAG or a code box to rid of the error codes.

They are simple to install so you can easily swap them out into another MK6 if you choose.

Any pics of the adaptors and where is the best place to get OEM lights.

I don't have a pic of the adaptors but there about 6" long with wire harnesses at the ends. They're usually sold along side the lights.

I bought mine from TMTuning because they had stock. However others have purchased them elsewhere for a bit less money or have waited for inventory.

Here is a picture of the adaptor. You need 4. You can get a set from tmtuning or ebay or various online sources for about $35-45.
The part number of the plugs are available(if you want to build your own even cheaper), but it is an European part so I doubt we can order it from out North America dealers.

Yes, or possibly code 20 depending on your build date.

Just to clarify.
After LED install, all I need to do with VAG is to change to code 55 or 1F on car with Xenon lights. This will clear the code and give me two reverse lights.
Right?

That instruction works does not work for two reverse lights on Noth American cars.

Xenon without Rear Fog(North American):
- For Early built MKVI, change Byte 18 "20".
- For later built MKVI, Change byte 18 to "55" or "1F".

I changed my code to 55 today which activated my drivers side reverse and now my outside parking lights don't work. The brake lights and inner parking lights work but not the outters. Do we know the early/late cutoff? Should I go and try to change 55 to 20? Stressful!

Thanks :)

Flashing of rear lights are simply due to camera not being able to process the light.

If you look @ videos about 997.2 porsche 911, and other new cars, it is the same thing.

All cars with rear LED lights will flash when shot on video.

If that were true then wouldn't videos of the GTI - R tails flash as well?

Update your vag-com software. The updates have been applied to a drop down menu.

Thank you. I'll go back to Achtuning who let me used their VAG and hopefully they will run or let me run the update so I can correct this.
