not exactly. you're moving the center of the rim outward by 16mm, which is substantial. that's how much the tire will also come out. within the tire, the rim will come out another 1/4" (6mm) but honestly that's not the big deal part of it.So, if I were to go from the stocke Denvers (17x7" +51mm offset) to a set of R8 reps (17x7.5" +35mm offset), I'd end up with a goodly amount of poke (22mm), correct?
IMHO worry about rim width vs the size tire you want to wear, don't worry about rim "poke" when considering width.
that being said, if you're that concerned, you should not be considering +35 offset rims, stick with between +45 and +51...
