Unitronic Stage 2 93 logging done. (On 91 octane...)

Noteables compared to the stage 1 91 log I did earlier:

-Went from 14.4psi max boost to 17.3psi max boost

-MAF g/s air flow readings from 191.28 to 197.72, same aFe dry drop-in filter



-Max timing pull on stage 2 was -4.5 for just 2 instances out of dozens.

Car runs very nice, and has the power to satisfy me now. I think when i first went to stage 2 I switched to the 91 octane weak file real quick, and never really experienced this proper power.


Looks good I see nothing to worry about, everything looks to be in good shape. Stick with high quality fuel and you are set. If some reasoon you get into a jam and have to buy a low quality or lower octane fuel just dont WOT to the last rpm.

Do you have an IC installed? If not it may get better even if you installed one.

You really cannot compare ko4 to IHI flow is different as well tuning companies are different in this case.

Plac looks good but based on boost graph alone on the V3 above the ko4 cant hang, whether its a leak or the tune itself idk. I will look at the logs when I get into work, I cannot open .csv on my phone.

Thought I'd post up here and see if anyone had any insights... did some data logging on the new APR K04 v3 tune this evening. 3'rd gear WOT from < 2000 RPMs through cut-off. My actual vs specified boost seems to be way off, and boost drops off pretty early despite the requested staying high.

You are having communication errors in those logs, also you should put in timing angle rather than throttle angle twice. Log with traction control off in the lowest gear that does not spin the wheels from 2k-redline.

Yeah, I'm having issues with vcds at the moment... Going to try to resolve and relog today, and I meant to get timing angle, but must have clicked the wrong box.

I did TCS enabled on purpose, since the new APR K04 tune has specific integrations with it. Did a TCS off run too.

Hopefully I'll have cleaner data tonight though - going to run through some suggestions in the vcds FAQ and call Ross tech if needed.

Do you have an IC installed? If not it may get better even if you installed one.

i have a Golf R intercooler upgrade. Better than stock, but not top line.

i guess youre right. my top end boost doesnt match either. im almost exactly 3psi down at each redline.

You know what else is interesting -- I notice my throttle valve angle decreases after 6000 RPMs as well ... seems like drive-by-wire scaling me back even though I've got the pedal mashed - probably just pre-emptive approaching cut-off... Could explain the boost drop off...

now in addition to my stage 1 and stage 2 logs posted previously, i added a new log with the GFB DV+ which I installed last night. Haven't even evaluated it yet. You can download it here if you want to compare to my stage 2 log without the DV+.

Max timing pull on this one only -2.3 instead of -4.5 without the DV+. Must be unrelated though, right? Might have been a few degrees colder this morning than the previous log.

Without DV+ (average max boost at 3360rpm)

Max boost is reached ~300rpms earlier with the DV+ on average. Every little bit helps, right? Saw nothing harmful in the logs.

my throttle angle is always exactly 100% all the way to redline. i let my DSG force a shift before i lift off.

You really cant ask for much better in terms of logs. Just about perfect. I bet it feels good now.

i was gonna push the limits with a stronger tune, but maybe i should just leave it alone at this point.

i still have to add that unitronic intake at some point.. but the timing is never right. when i have money, its never in stock. eventually, everyone on the forum will have one, and then it will finally stay in stock forever.

lol, the uni intake is nice. May be loud for you but then you had open air intakes before. You wont really get a "stronger" tune then you have now unless you go w/m. The IHI is basically out of breath so any more and you will have cut backs in other areas. Uni gives you the strongest curve throughout that is smooth, no jerks, spikes, or dips. Personally i like it that way but not everyone does.

If you want a tad more grab a snow progressive MAP (boost) controlled kit in Allsets GB. Run a 100cc jet in the TB pipe, it will be stronger if you do that. Have it start spraying at 10psi and full at 15psi use 70% meth to 30% distilled water. If you use the 2.5 gallon cooling mist tank you wont run through it too fast. And yes you will feel a slight bump in tq with boost onset with it if you tune it right. It will also account for a tank of marginal fuel, the w/m will keep timing pull to a minimum.

I wish you were closer to ride in my car you would love the exhaust and power and basically had every last other thing about it. Car has to be so stiff to handle the power.

i think anyone would love a 575hp car. i wont mind the intake noise, i dying for it. i want to hear more turbo. what im on the fence about is the neuspeed exhaust. i want the look and the quality hardware, but the sound would wear on me.

John@Uni has told me 18 BTDC is about the max timing advance i want on a 93 file, ESPECIALLY since i am only running 91 octane.

I have plenty of options of getting a stronger tune, (without more hardware), but there are risks with everything of course.

Here are my logs ..(note I have a massive boost leak from my turbo side eurojet intercooler hose from it being re-installed backwards back in november when I got my k04 kit installed. It was rubbing against the belt. It has been corrected with duct tape over it but I can here it whistling so the duct tape broke I believe).

If anyone can give me an opinion on my logs that would be great.

I'm logging my mk6 gli using apr mobile and I'm having ignition retard in cyl 2 values of -69 or -93 all the time. I also have a misfire starting around 4500 in 3rd at wot. I just went k04 and I'm currently on v2 low output file after being on the reg v2. I need help. Apr k04, apr dp, magnaflow catback, apr intake are my mods. I just installed r8 coils too.
